Garfield plays percussion with a number of orchestras and bands in the North West of England: North Cheshire Wind Orchestra, Worsley Concert Band and Mold Town Band.
Together with his wife, saxophonist Helen Southall, he plays drums & percussion in the neoclassical jazz trio, Gifts From Crows, and with jazz quartet PTHuG and at various Jazz Jam sessions in the area.
Garfield & Helen are currently working with poet Andy Porter on a number of accompaniments to his imaginative odes.
Previous projects include many years as part of the free improvisation group Frakture, led by Phil Morton, and a number of related outfits. He has worked with Maggie Nichols, Brigitte Kuper and Damo Suzuki, and was also part of Trio Siabod.

Garfield is a keen outdoor person, preferring long distance trail running events, as well as cycling, and has a deep love of music of all genres.
